How beautiful the leaves grow old.
How full of light and color are their last days.
Though we are long past peak color where I live, and most of the leaves have fallen – those that remain continue to paint the landscape with muted tones of deep gold and brown. It’s much more subtle than the “main attraction” but still pretty. I’m hoping to have an opportunity to get up north with the camera in the next day or two to capture the juxtaposition of late autumn below and winter on the mountain tops, now capped with snow.
How wonderful it is to watch the trees as they prepare to go to sleep for the winter. Such a flurry of energy! Such a vibrant show as each one seems to shout, “Look at me!” Then, just as suddenly, it’s over. They become quiet and hunker down, knowing the cold winds are coming. Then they slumber, waiting for spring to come and the cycle to begin anew. Majestic.
