If you’re a regular here, or if you’ve poked around The Christian Gift store, you probably know I’m a photographer. Most often, my focus is the landscape.
I post my images here and to our Facebook page regularly.
Often, I pair them with excerpts from Scripture. Other times, I might find an interesting quotatation that’s a good fit for the subject matter.
The other day I came across a lovely Irish Blessing – which became the companion for this shot of raindrops clinging to the buds on a tree. There’s something about droplets covering vegetation that calls my name…I really enjoy putting my macro lens on the camera and heading out into the drizzle to see what I can come up with.

There’s something magical about spring. Once the weather begins to break it ushers in a series of wonderful, invigorating firsts!
The first day you’re able to open the windows to the house and let fresh air in…the first crocus you spot in the garden…the day you notice that the trees have seemingly filled with buds overnight. The first time you can sit outside in the morning to enjoy your cup of coffee. The first songbirds you hear.
And on, and on.
Martin Luther reminds us of the amazing parallel message in nature’s rebirth – the promise of the Resurrection:

This image and the Corrie Ten Boom quote seemed to be a good pairing.
I made this photo in New Hampshire’s White Mountains at the end of a day of shooting…having wrapped things up, I was driving out from the location at which I’d been working all afternoon when I noticed that there was a great vantage point over the river offering a clear view of the interesting things developing in the sky over the mountain. Back I turned, parking the car, grabbing the camera and tripod, and running to get myself into position as quickly as possible.
A shaft of light pierced through the heavy cloud clover; I had time to make just one exposure before the light disappeared, not to return.
It was one of those “right place at the right time” kind of situations. These rare occasions make up for the many hours that are necessarily invested in outdoor photography…and the many times when conditions just don’t gell, forcing multiple attempts to get the shot.
